Coleraine, N.Ireland 25/11/2016. Mist rises over the Cutts at Castleroe, as the sun begins to rise over the River Bann. Temperatures dropped to as much as -7 degrees overnight, causing widespread frost and fog.

Doherty Cup Final

Young players from Millburn and St Colums Primary Schools line up prior to the kick off at the Showgrounds Coleraine on Thursday 30/4/2015, ready to play in the final of the Doherty Cup . The event is a big part of the local schools sporting calendar, with huge crowds attending to lend their support. The same schools made it to the final last year, ending in a draw and having to share the cup.

Ian Paisley

N.Ireland politician, and church minister,Ian Paisley, died today. I’ll leave political comments for everyone else to squabble over, but I always found him good crack.  Here’s a snap of him and the Queen at a garden party a while back. She greeted him so very warmly that day, and even bowed back.

 

Alderman James McClure

Long serving Coleraine Councillor and former Mayor, Alderman James McClure has passed away. He died yesterday (Sunday 3rd July 2014).
